Inner dialogue

The voices inside our head. So many and frequent in between. What do they mean? Which to listen to? No, I’m not speaking of multiple personalities, but rather the questioning, evaluation, considerations, and proposing we do with ourselves everyday in perhaps every way imaginable. Should I quit my job? Does this look good? Should I have another piece? Do I go on this date? Do I like this person? Am I doing the right thing? Am I good enough? What is my purpose? What do I desire? There’s all sorts of sayings like “we’re our worst critic”, “just live in the moment”, “you’re already enough”, “find your zen”, etc. Maybe they’re alright and maybe they’re all right. Ultimately each person’s is uniquely distinct and one’s own. Who’s to say what’s best for me is best for you; sure or perhaps not at all. When you quiet the dialogue inside, maybe you get closer to the answer in the silence. Even if there’s nothing to hear, at least you’re closer to reducing the real dissonance. Besides, you’re already enough, right?
