I heard that in church last Sunday. It’s meant a lot to me in the days since.
Seated in the audience, I thought back to past relationships whether friendships or romantic interests and contemplated what that means in my life.
How telling, now with hindsight, that most instances of friction and unease now serve as the best highlights of honing areas of improvement for myself, strengthening my beliefs/values, as well as expanding experience in my life. Perhaps not easy to see in the moments we live conflict and frustration when sparking adversity with others, it’s a happy day to realize it made me a better person.
Do we throw away the best parts of the past? Retaining what’s meant to teach us ways to grow is so richly rewarded by the improved people we become.
